Waste of food.

First off, I really didn't know who to go to about this problem we face in countries, especially here in America. The problem is the waste of perfectly healthy and good food. I see and hear all the time of how packaged food items that are bought everyday just go to waste. I'm not just talking about at the homes of residence, but schools, and penitentiaries. My mother works for the Bakersfield City School District, and my father used to work for the Kern County Probation Department. They both tell me all the time off all the food that is being thrown away instead of donated or fed to those who are in need. Most third world countries don't have the same freedoms and pleasures of feeding their needy, as well as America. The rate of starving children all over the world sickens, saddens, and hurts me. I then see tons of food wasted everyday by employers and employees just simply throwing the food away in garbage cans. The food that is being wasted could easily be donated to those in need. I understand if food that someone has eaten already is thrown out (still saddens me) but I DON'T understand throwing out packaged food that hasn't been touched yet or even opened. When I see all this food being thrown to waste, I don’t understand why more people aren't doing anything about it. I want to start some type of donation foundation for the waste of food, to be donated to those in need. I don't want any fame for this or money, I want to do it for those in need of a healthy (or at that) ANY meal. I want to take this to the senate or capital hill or do something about it rather than talk about it. Something NEEDS to be done about all the food being thrown away on a daily basis. I hope you can read this and feel the same as I feel. I hope that someone like me can make a stand and try to change things rather than communicate about it. Thank you for your time. –Garrett Holsonbake
