Five students from Fruitvale Junior High School took first place this week at the National History Day Competition in Maryland. The team did a performance on The Freedom Rides of the 1960s. They competed against 80 other teams from around hte nation. This is the second year in a row the Fruitvale Team has placed first at nationals. Team members are Calvin Laverty, Ramie Sahota, Sameen Brammer, Britany Louey, and Amy Williams. Their coaches are Brenda Griffiths and Jennifer Mykytiuk
