Adoration at its best!

My Dogs Best Friend!

You would think my dog, Maya would be looking up at her owner with those beautiful eyes. No! The look she has in her eyes is because she is staring up at her most favorite thing in the world, her ball.
She wasn't always obsessed with ball play, but she has a long story in her short 2.5 years of life. Her favorite ball (and in her opinion, the only ball that should exist) is a green spikey latex ball. It has to be green, she will snub any other color.
When Maya first entered my life, she was a rambunctious 8 week old puppy that had a tad bit of separation anxiety. She had no interest in ball play, but loved to tear through my small apartment like a tornado when I was at work. Well, one day during one of her tornado-like tantrums she managed to unhook my dryer-vent hose from the wall (I thought it was completely secure otherwise I would have never left her). She escaped through my dryer vent that led to the outside (probably about a 6 inch opening, if that). She was found by some people walking by the apartments and taken home with them. After two days of searching, hanging posters, and frantically talking to everyone I could find, I finally got her back. This is a long story in itself because the people who had her were not going to fess up until I pulled some clever tactics.
Ever since her big adventure, she has been a ball playing fanatic with this one particular ball. The people who had her didn't even give her food and water let alone play with her so I know she didn't get this habit from them.
I think she will always be a mystery to me, but she will always be a mystery I will enjoy trying to figure out! By far the best dog I've ever had, this picture is a constant memory of my unique and quirky dog named Maya.
