Vehicle fire at Standard Elementary

A parent bringing children to school this morning around 8:30 am smelled gasoline while driving. On approaching Standard Elementary at 115 E. Minner Ave in Oildale, flames englufed the front of her vehicle. She quickly parked and evacuated her children from the car. Kern County Fire arrived on scene and extinquished the fire and covered the vehicle with flame retardant, soon the CHP arrived to make a report. The horrified mother was shaken, but grateful she and her children were safe.
