Many oldtimeers can't remember when they've seen this much snow in Weldon, a small town located just 10 miles east of Lake Isabella in the Kern Valley. Sitting at about a 2,700 foot elevation, it is very unusual to get anything more than a dusting of snow that melts as soon as it hits the ground. Schools are closed as residents brace for more snowy weather.
