I was bored on the night of 12-12-08, and I hadn't been on a relaxing night drive, in a while, and with gas prices so low, at the time, I figured it'd be a good time to do so. I wound up on the 58 headed towards Tehachapi, when I saw a large, smooth cloud illuminated by the moon hovering just above the mountains. I stopped just South of Bealville on 58 to call a rather weather-oriented friend to ask what it was, to which he replied that it was a lenticular cloud indicating high wind speeds in the Mojave desert. I went a little further up 58 to see if I could get a better picture of it, which led me to Keane.
