4 Way Stop at Norris Rd and Snow Rd

Our house backs up tp the corner of Snow Rd and Norris Rd. There have been at least four accidents in the last 3 years at this dangerous intersection, one that happened just last night (8/26/13.) I have contacted the people in charage of the roads and this was the email I was sent

"The intersection you are concerned with is located mostly within the City of Bakersfield. The City in the past couple of years has received this request to install stop signs or a traffic signal at this location. In November, 2011, the City conducted an intersection study to see if an all-way stop (4 Way Stop) or traffic signal was warranted under California State law. Under California State law, one of the conditions (or warrants) must be met in order for the City to install either a stop sign or a traffic signal.

After our intersection study, it was determined that no warrants were met at this time. The two most important warrants, the number of cars and the number of accidents, came back negative. There were not enough accidents reported at this intersection to meet the State’s warrant nor was there enough side street traffic to meet the second warrant. It has been determined that no changes should be made to this intersection at this time. As Bakersfield continues to grow, this intersection may meet one of the warrant in the near future. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the study findings, please contact me from the number below."

He states that there isn't enough side traffic to warrant a four-way stop or stop light, yet they have installed a stop light further West on Snow Rd. at a canal, which has absolutley no side traffic.

A friend of mine works for Norris School District as a bus driver and she says she hates that intersection because it takes forever to make a left turn onto Snow from Norris.

Something needs to be done! All we are asking for is a four-way stop!

Thank you,
Stephanie Goin
