Friday morning about 2am a black bear attacked and killed two potbelly pigs at the home of Lake Isabella residents, Burtons & Cigaineros. They were large 2oo+ lbs pigs. They were pets for about 15 years. They were in a pen outside, the bear entered the pen through a wooden shead and attacked and killed the 2 pigs, partially ate one of the pigs when Jim and Daisy Cigainero got up to see what all the noise was and upon entering the wood shead the bear raised up looking Jim in the eye at arms length. He quickly turned yelled BEAR! to Daisy and they both ran. The bear exited the shead and ran up the hill. Athorities were called. Game Warden Terry Mullen responded to the residence later that morning and took the report. He said it is unusual for a black bear to attack large livestock and it appears to have no fear of humans, making this a very dangerous bear. He said they will be returning later in the day with a large trap baiting it with one of the dead pigs in hopes of traping the bear.
This photo although taken 1 year ago, is about 25 yards from where the attact took place and is likely the same bear.
