Model Train Show

The Golden Empire Historical and Modeling Society, of Bakersfield, will be hosting their annual model train show on March 12th and 13th at the Kern County Fairgrounds, in Bakersfield.
Model train vendors from all over California will be present offering 120 tables of model railroading equipment and supplies to help you make your model railroad the envy of all your friends.
But if you just want to watch trains run—from reliving the age of steam to the most modern diesel locomotives— there will be several operating model railroad layouts on display. From one that is big enough to ride on to one that is small enough to fit inside a brief case..
The train show will be open to the public from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 12th, and 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 13th, at the Kern County Fairgrounds located at 1142 South “P” Street, in Bakersfield. Admission is $7.00 per person with children ages 13 and under admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The one-time admission charge is good for both days of the show. Proceeds from the show fund the construction of the Golden Empire Historical and Modeling Society’s two large permanent model railroad layouts located in downtown Bakersfield. When completed, these model railroad layouts will be the largest of its kind situated between Los Angeles and Sacramento.
