BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Condors will serve as ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers next season.

The Condors announced the move Thursday. Bakersfield has previously been affiliated with Anaheim and Minnesota.

"This is an exciting day for Condorstown and the city of Bakersfield deserves an affiliation of this caliber," said Condors general manager John Olver in a news release. "The Edmonton Oilers represent one of the most storied and respected franchises in the NHL. This partnership will immediately enhance our on-ice success and will contribute greatly to restoring our winning tradition."

The Oilers have another minor-league affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.

This partners the Condors with a stories NHL franchise, one with five Stanley Cup titles.

The Condors are entering the season with a new head coach, Troy Mann, after finishing in last place in their division with a 22-44 record.
