State playoffs open up with a trio of local victories
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Stockdale girls, Liberty boys and Ridgeview boys are moving on in the C.I.F. State basketball playoffs.

In the opening round of the soccer regionals, the Stockdale boys were upended by Dos Pueblos 1-0.

In Division III boys hoops, Ridgeview used a monster performance from Robert Roberts to beat Harvard-Westlake 79-74.

Roberts scored 36 points for the Wolfpack.

Ridgeview advances to play top seed Serra on Thursday.

In Division II, Sam Marcus and Junior Morgan led a balanced attack for Liberty in the Patriots' 69-49 win over Mark Keppel.

The Patriots advance to meet number 1 Eisenhower on Thursday.

The Stockdale Girls scored an upset win in their Division I opening round contest.

The Mustangs beat Carson 78-72.

Stockdale moves on to play top seed Long Beach Poly on Thursday.

Despite leading by as many as eight points, The Ridgeview girls team could not get past Barstow in the Division III tournament.

Frontier also lost its first round Division III game at Muir.

In the Southern California soccer regional, the Stockdale boys fell to Dos Pueblos 1-0.
