Former Condor Mark Derlago stings Bakersfield
By John Franchi
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Mark Derlago returned to Bakersfield and made sure to make his former team pay.
Derlago scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, as the Idaho Steelheads beat the Bakersfield Condors 3-2. After falling behind 2-0, Bakersfield drew even after goals by Shawn Weller and Maxim Macenauer. Late in the 3rd period, the Condors were called for a penalty, putting Idaho on the man advantage. Derlago wasted little time finding the back of the net. His backhand shot slid past goalie Timo Pielmeier, and Idaho escaped with the win. All three Idaho goals were scored on the power play. With two wins over Bakersfield this weekend, Idaho moved five points ahead of the Condors in the race for 1st place in the ECHL's National Conference. |
