Strange goal helps the Condors get a stunning comeback win
By John Franchi
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Somehow the Bakersfield Condors found enough 3rd period magic to pull out a stunning 4-3 come from behind win over Alaska.
Trailing 3-2 with just seconds to go in the game, Eric Regan scored when his shot deflected into the net off the leg of an Alaska defender. Regan's goal forced overtime, and the Condors pulled out the game in a shootout. Despite out-shooting Alaska 45-15, Bakersfield could not grab a lead in regulation. The Aces built a 2-0 lead before the Condors found the net on a Ryan Menei goal. Alaska would get that goal back early in the 3rd period to take a 3-1 lead. Midway through the period, Adam Naglich tallied his 7th goal of the season to get Bakersfield to within a goal of the Aces. Then with 32 seconds left in regulation, Regan scored his magical goal. Menei and Stephane Goulet scored in the shootout and Timo Pielmeier stopped all four Alaska attempts to give Bakersfield another improbable victory. |
