Condors blast past Ontario in shootout win

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Condors scored on all 3 shootout attempts, while Goalie Timo Pielmeier stopped all 3 shootout tries sent his way, lifting the Condors to a thrilling win over the Ontario Reign.
The Condors and Reign, woke up bright and early for this 10:30 AM contest, but the early wake up call did not take any fire power away from the Condors. Bakersfield began the scoring when Defenseman Eric Regan blasted a shot from the point 10 minutes into the game. Ontario answered with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead after the 1st period, but the Condors answered. Mathieu Aubin and Adam Naglich each scored in the 2nd period to give the Condors a 3-2 lead. The Reign answered again, scoring the equalizing goal in the 3rd to send the game to an overtime shootout. In the shootout, Bakersfield looked unstoppable. Stephane Goulet, Dan Sexton and MacGregor Sharp each scored, while the Reign could get nothing past Condors' Goalie Timo Pielmeier. The Condors now have a 3 point lead over Ontario for 1st place in the Pacific Division standings. After the game, Sharp was recalled to Anaheim of the NHL. |
