BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Playing against a marquee opponent from one of the top conferences in America, the California State University, Bakersfield Lady Runners gave the University of Miami all it could handle.

The Hurricanes had just enough depth and athleticism to run past CSUB 111-93.

The meeting was the first time a team from the storied Atlantic Coast Conference played against CSUB.

The Runners and Hurricanes traded punches in an evenly played 1st half. CSUB led by as many as 7 points until a late run by the 'Canes put Miami ahead 51-50 at the half.

After the break, Miami came out firing. The Hurricanes opened the 2nd half on a 25-8 run to put the game out of reach.

Katie Williams was the Runners top scorer with 27 points.
