BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- One game into the 2009 season, the Bakersfield College Renegades have lost starting running back Andre Smith to an ankle injury.

Smith rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns in their season opening 33-14 win over Fresno City College.

Head coach Jeff Chudy says Smith will have his ankle examined when the swelling goes down. The Renegades play host to L.A. Valley this Saturday.
