BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Blaze used a walk off single by Joey Butler to hand the first place San Jose Giants their second straight loss at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Butler's game winning hit was necessary when Blaze reliever Evan Reed, 17 for 18 in save opportunities surrendered a game tying two run homer in the top of the ninth inning. It was the first home run allowed by Reed this season.

The Blaze jumped on San Jose 14 game winner Craig Clark building an early 4-2 lead. The two teams will close out their three game series Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
