Bakersfield, CA.

The Bakersfield Brigade soccer franchise will not return for the 2010 season, that according to team president Jeff Thorn.

Thorn said a lack of community support forced him to end the Brigade's five year run. The franchise which opened it's doors in 2005 led their division in attendance during that innagural season.

The Bakesfield Blaze, in the midst of a battle for a wildcard berth, dropped a doubleheader at home to High Desert. Mavericks first baseman Joe Dunigan provided most of the offense with a grand slam in game one and a three run double in game two.

The Blaze bats were limited to just two runs and nine hits in the doubleheader, High Desert winning game one 9-1, and game two by a final of 5-1. The same two teams will meet tonight at Sam Lynn Ballpark, first pitch is 7:30.
