Former Burroughs star loses in major league debut, Blaze drop second straight in San Jose

Former Burroughs High pitcher J.D. Martin made his major league debut with the Washington Nationals, lasting four innings in a 6-2 loss.

Martin, allowed two runs in the first inning to the New York Mets, three more in the second inning before settling down to throw two shutout innings. His final line, four innings, eight hits, five earned runs.

The Bakersfield Blaze suffered their second straight loss in San Jose, losing to the Giants by a final of 7-1. The teams will close out their three game series tonight in San Jose. The Blaze return home Wednesday night to host High Desert.
