BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cal State Bakersfield is in the market for a new head coach for its men's basketball program.

School officials announced their decision Thursday to not renew Keith Brown's contract when it expires at the end of the month. Brown's Roadrunners are 9-19 this season, having lost their last eight games. The team's last win was a 77-75 outcome Jan. 25 against Cal State Fullerton.

"We thank Coach Brown for his 14 years of service to this program and community as both an assistant and head coach for the Roadrunners," new CSUB Athletic Director Jeff Konya said in a news release. Konya took over at the beginning of the year for Rudy Carvajal, who retired after a 38-year run as CSUB's first and only athletics director.

"At this time, we feel it is in the best interest of CSUB to go another direction in order to continue our competitive progress as a Division I men's basketball program," Konya  went on the say.
