'Dangerous' inmate escapes Wasco State Prison

WASCO, Calif. -- Residents are asked to call 911 if they spot an inmate who escaped Friday from Wasco State Prison.

Eric Rodriguez, 31, arrived at the prison Friday to begin a five-year sentence for battery on a prisoner, but he was inadvertently released during processing, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Another inmate with the same last name was supposed to be released, the department said.

Special agents with the prison system have been dispatched to look for Rodriguez, and local law enforcement has been notified.

Rodriguez is considered dangerous.
