Babies can't wait to be born in NY -- three delivered on the road on same morning
By Associated Press
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Make that three babies - count 'em, three - to go.
Babies in a hurry made for a memorable Monday morning for firefighters in and around Rochester who were summoned three times to deliver infants in cars. Just after 5 a.m. Monday, authorities said, a woman gave birth in a car alongside a road in suburban Brighton. Fire officials and firefighter-emergency medical personnel helped deliver the infant. Two hours later, firefighters in nearby Perinton delivered a baby girl in a car that had pulled into the parking lot of their fire station while the mother was in route to the hospital. The third birth occurred in Rochester. Details weren't immediately available. Fire officials note that that firefighters don't often deliver babies in emergencies - let alone three times in the same region in one morning. Ambulance crews are more likely to face such a situation, they say. "It's a full moon. It's just crazy," said Carrie Sippel, the second of the three new mothers. |
