WEIRTON, W.Va. (AP) - In Weirton, chickens aren't just crossing the roads. They're ruling them.

Resident Christina Foley says dozens of wild chickens are running free in her Kings Creek neighborhood, hiding in trees, roaming the streets and generally ruling the roost.

At 4 a.m., she says all the squawking sounds like a farm.

Foley has been complaining to City Council for months. Now, help might finally be on the way.

Council agrees the birds present a possible health risk.

Councilman Ronnie Jones said Friday that council will vote next week on a contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to remove the fowl. The plan will involve either netting, trapping or sharp-shooting.

The cost? Just under $4,000.
