Number of dead in Washington mudslide reaches 30

Number of dead in Washington mudslide reaches 30

OSO, Wash. - The death toll from the March 22 mudslide that buried a community at Oso has reached 30, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday.

Of those, 27 have been positively identified. A 67-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy are the latest victims to be identified.

Some 15 people remain missing - but one set of the remains found so far does not match with any description on the missing persons list. The medical examiners know it is a male, but they can't even identify his age range. Without possible family members to compare, DNA tests are useless. At this point, gold teeth are all they have to go on.

The updated death toll was released Thursday morning.

"We are working closely with the families and extend our most heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends during this difficult time," the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office said in a statement.

The names of the 27 victims identified so far:
