Woman who fought for son's life - threatened by rare disorder - is laid to rest

Though she suffered from severe health issues of her own, Debra Hill was consumed with the care of her 13-year-old son who suffered from a rare genetic disorder.

She had a heart condition and needed a heart transplant, all the while being hooked up to a portable heart pump.

The mother of two succumbed to complications and passed away May 10. Debra Hill's funeral was Wednesday in Shafter.
