Woman in stolen vehicle arrested after chase

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A woman was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly leading police on a short chase in a stolen vehicle.

An officer received a hit of a stolen vehicle on his patrol car's license-plate recognition system. The officer tried to pull the driver over at 21st and Pine streets, but the driver wouldn't stop.

The chase ended at 24th and Elm streets, where Elm is barricaded. The driver, 27-year-old Sarah Brown, ran from the vehicle and was nearly struck by oncoming traffic, according to police.

Brown was caught and arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, evading a peace officer, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
