BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman was hospitalized after being pushed out of a car during a chase.

The pursuit began Wednesday evening, when officers tried to stop a driver on Lincoln Street, in the area of Bernard Street and Alta Vista Drive in east Bakersfield, according to police.

Mario Baltier, 27, hit a parked car on Bernard Street and continued to drive, police said.

According to police, Baltier pushed a woman out of the moving car, resulting in moderate injuries. She was taken to Kern Medical Center, and is expected to recover, authorities said.

The chase came to an end when Baltier ran the car into a fence on Date Street, near Oildale Drive in Oildale.

Police said Baltier was arrested after running from the car, which had been reported stolen to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Baltier was booked on pending charges that include possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, hit-and-run, assault with a deadly weapon, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest.
