Woman hit crossing A Street may not survive

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman is hospitalized with injuries that could be life-threatening after being hit by a car in central Bakersfield.

The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of A Street.

Police said the woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a Mazda sedan driven by a 20-year-old man.

The woman was not immediately identified and is being treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

Police said there are no crosswalks in the area. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Bakersfield police at (661) 327-7111.

This was the fourth crash involving a pedestrian since Friday.
