Video security system catches intruder
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Oildale resident Joe Steele has had property stolen from his work truck and driveway. Thieves have taken copper wire and an old motorcycle. He thought it was time to take some preemptive action.

"Just to be prepared,' said Steele.

So, Steele installed eight security cameras on his property. Two of them cover the front of the house. The rest are scattered around the rest of the property.

Monday evening, the security system caught an unidentified man on Steele's property at around 4 a.m. Steele said the suspect broke into his work truck and rummaged through it.

"I don't know what he was looking for," said Steele. But, he's hoping someone will recognize the intruder on the video and call Kern County Sheriff's investigators.

"When people know they're being watched, they're less apt to do something," said Steele.
