BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield police officer was honored Wednesday by U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner for his outstanding collaboration with federal authorities.

Paul Yoon received the Outstanding Investigator Award as the lead task force officer for the Central California Financial Crimes Task Force. The federal prosecutor's office called Yoon "a motivated team player" with "vast knowledge of individuals, companies and criminal conduct in Kern County."

"His willingness to share his detailed knowledge of the area and to go above and beyond to make sure that criminals are brought to justice has been a key component to the success of the task force," Wagner said in a news release.

Other U.S. Attorney's office award winners are the Fresno Police Department (work to address gang and gun violence), Elk Grove Police Department (investigations into indoor marijuana grows), and Detective Scott Maldonado of the Sacramento Police Department (work with the IRS Financial Crimes Task Force).
