Two dead after Corvette runs stop sign
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Two people died in a car crash Saturday morning after a Corvette ran a stop sign and hit their car, pushing it into an electrical pole, Kern County officials said.
California Highway Patrol officers said that the driver of the Corvette, Cristobal Cisneros, 25 of Arvin, was driving south on Edison Road toward it's intersection with David Road.
Stop signs are only posted for vehicles traveling on Edison. At around 6:10, Cisneros failed to stop at the stop sign and ran into a 1997 Mazda driving east on David Rd.
The impact pushed the Mazda into a southeast direction, where it hit a power pole head-on.
The Mazda's two occupants, later identified as Omar Parra-Garcia, 39, and Ignacio Garcia, 48 (both from Lamont, Calif.) sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Both of the people inside the Mazda were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Cisneros was airlifted to Kern Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
Police said that they are still unsure of how fast Cisneros was driving at the time of the crash.
so sad :( so many people in such a hurry....sad thing is they usually end up first in the last day of their own or others lifes...lets hope someone who reads this will slow down and be more cautious. prayers and sympathy going out to the families of the deceased <3
My father in law was there and called 911. Sadly the two in the Mazda were dead as he mentioned.Â
