Total Woman fitness center not totally used by women

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — It’s a gym that doesn’t have many Jims.
Leigh Pozas is the owner of Total Woman Fitness Center. She says she caters her place to women.
“They’re not worried about someone checking them out, or being on a machine too long, or being asked out," Pozas says. "It’s just a different environment.”
An Eyewitness News viewer called recently, saying she’s upset about a man who joined one of the classes at the gym.
Pozas says they recently had a man join, but it’s not a problem.
“He takes his classes and comes in and fits in fine,” the owner says.
Linda Jelmini, a member at the gym, says it is a problem.
“If a guy came into the gym and it looked like he was being a member of the gym, I think all the women should come and kick his butt out,” Jelmini says.
California law states a single-sex gym is discriminatory.
Pozas says she would love for it to be an all-women gym, but it’s illegal.
With 2,000 female members and one male member, the owner hopes her female friends don’t sweat the tiny level of testosterone.
“Even though there’s one male member, it's not the same as going to a big coed gym, with men everywhere and heavy weights and a sweaty smell,” she says.

I have belonged to Total Woman for years, so I can speak to this issue. The guy joined the gym because it is the only one in town that offers this certain type of class that he likes. I don't have a problem with it because he is very respectful of the women He comes in, minds his own business, and goes to his class. He doesn't speak to the women unless they speak to him. No big deal.
Many women want to join "men's only" organizations, too, and the men have to let them join. When women join men's clubs, the men treat them badly soooo, ladies, you know what to do
There are so many gyms. Why on earth would this guy want to join a gym women go to so they won't have to work out with men? Is he testing the system? Does he have a crusade? We would sure like to get his take on this.
If I see this fella there I certainly AM going to ask him. Perhaps there is a reason that is understandable.
You know ... there ARE "Male Only" private spa's and clubs in San Francisco a woman could never-ever get past the front door. And ... what woman would want to go in there? I believe we, as women make these choices for very personal reasons that are based on logic.
So Mister ... speak up? What's your story? Why not go to a co-ed gym? They have some even BETTER versions of this class at many different times of day. Plus, uhm ... you do not even have a dressing room at TW!

Why not,Women complain when they can't join a mens club.Liberalism and Hypocracy at it's finest...........
@Mike Foltz
Haha! We chose this one so we don't HAVE to be working out with men and this guy wants to BE there. What is with HIM? C'm on! With so many other gyms to choose from you can not tell me there is a valid reason for this unless he is simply trying to make a point.
Until we hear from HIM directly he is like a thorn in a hot air balloon coming to a gym designed by and for women. Note~ my comment above.
Imagine if an all male club refused to allow a woman in, these same liberals, who always screech about "equality" and "equal access" would be picketing outside demanding women be admitted.  This is the same liberal media that went ballistic on the Augusta Golf club, a private club for not allowing blacks.  A private club can admit or refuse anybody they want, but liberals don't believe in private clubs, they believe in government thuggery forcing it's idea of "fairness" on free people.  But "equality" only works one way with liberals, you must bend to their demands, but they reserve the right to refuse your demands.     Men must register with Selective Service at age 18, women do not, so don't buy their "government must treat everyone the same" line of BS.    They only want "equality" for the goodies, not the bad stuff.   You'd think "progressive, liberated women of the 21st century" would have no problem with a man being in their club.   These are insecure, self-conscious women who want their own little exclusionary club, while screeching about "gender equality" and other BS out the other side of their mouths.   Apparently only men must recognize equal rights, women can exclude others based on gender if they wish.   Now you see why liberals are hypocritical elitists who have no interest in following their so called "principles" themselves.
This man is just being a jerk. There's tons of gyms in Bakersfield. Now this owner will probably lose business because he wants to "prove a point". What a jerk.
@Aicad Reyes Really? So if a woman was trying to get admitted to an all male club, would you call her "a jerk" also?  Nah, you'd be cheering her on, praising her "courage and persistence in taking on a chauvinistic male bastion of exclusionary policies".   That's the double standard of you liberal clowns, you change your tune every 5 minutes, based on gender, race and sexual orientation considerations, rather than the "equality" you claim to support.
@mocus1 A wise person once said to me "go where you are celebrated, not just tolerated". Very sage advice as it applies to this situation. (-;
@mocus1 Honest? I would question her just as I would this guy; "why do you want to be in a gym where men who prefer not to work out with women go when you have so many other options?" This is 2013, we all get to go where we want ... not 1900 for crying out loud!
