Tehachapi cops take steps to sue city, alleging retaliation
TEHACHAPI, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) - The city of Tehachapi is facing a possible lawsuit after two officers currently employed with its police department filed harassment claims on New Years Eve.

Officer Peter Graff says he started being mistreated after he reported a superior allegedly falsifying time sheets. Officer Rick Disney says his mistreatment began after he accused a senior officer of serving alcohol to underage police explorers.

Both are seeking $1.5 million in compensation for emotional distress and mental suffering due to what they say is a hostile work environment and loss of pay.

The Tehachapi Police Department and the designated city attorney have failed to comment on the claims.

The city does have 45 days from when the claims were served to reject or accept them. If the city chooses to reject the claims, then the officers can move forward with a lawsuit.
