Teen shot in Lamont, walks for help

LAMONT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A teen was shot early Thursday morning near a vineyard in Lamont.

Kern County Sheriff's deputies said the teen was shot as he was driving westbound on Buena Vista Boulevard around 3:45 a.m., just west of Vineland Road. He crashed his truck into a nearby vineyard and walked to a nearby home for help, according to the sheriff's office.

The teen, who has not been identified, was rushed to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown.

Sheriff's officials said they have no information on the suspect, or the suspect's vehicle. They do not know the motive for the shooting.

Buena Vista Boulevard, between Vineland Road and Weedpatch Highway, was shut down for several hours as deputies investigated the scene. Authorities said a power pole was knocked down when the truck crashed, and it's not known if power was affected in the area.
