Teen found with pot, $4k after police chase

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A teen was taken into custody Tuesday night after leading police on a short chase in central Bakersfield.

Police say the 17-year-old driver was failed to pull over for an officer just before 10 p.m.

The teen led police on a short pursuit from the area of P Street and Brundage Lane to the 1000 block of 4th Street, where he hit a tree.

Police found 2 ounces of marijuana and $4,000 in cash in the car.

The driver, another 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were taken to an area hospital.

The driver was released to his father and faces charges of evading a peace officer and possession of marijuana for sale.

The girl had an outstanding warrant and was booked into juvenile hall.
