Taft police nab man on warrant, suspect him of burglary

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - Police arrested a man early Tuesday on an active warrant and on suspicion of committing a recent unrelated burglary.

A Taft police sergeant spotted 28-year-old Mitchell West allegedly acting suspiciously around 1:45 a.m. in an alley off Center Street.

West was arrested on a warrant for removing an ankle monitor. Police also found a hidden loaded .40 caliber pistol and several pieces of jewelry, which they suspect were stolen.

The investigation ended up at a home on North Street, where more items were found that police believe were stolen. The items include a 30.06 bolt-action rifle, two televisions and other miscellaneous electronics.
