Man arrested, accused in 5 Bakersfield-area bank robberies

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for three southwest Bakersfield bank robberies since late January, the most recent happening just one week ago.

A department news release said detectives arrested 23-year-old Jasdeep Singh Dhaliwal at approximately 9:40 p.m. Friday.

He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail on felony robbery charges.

Police note the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Ted King at (661) 326-3553.

Meanwhile, the Kern County Sheriff's Office developed probable cause to charge Dhaliwal with the robbery of two Olidale banks.

The first Oildale robbery occurred on Jan. 9 at the Chase Bank on North Chester Avenue. The second robbery occurred on April 17 at the Wells Fargo Bank on North Chester.
