Suspect shot dead to end Lamont SWAT standoff
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The suspect in an overnight standoff in Lamont has been killed.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office said the man was found hiding in a trailer on Bonita Road just before 8:30 a.m. A sheriff's spokesperson said the suspect shot at deputies, who returned fire. A short time later, they entered the trailer and found the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Andres Aguilar, dead inside.

No deputies were hurt.

The standoff began around 10 p.m. Wednesday when deputies pulled a man over. They say he ran away, and shot at deputies. Deputies set up a perimeter and locked down several block in Lamont while they searched for him and finally located him more than 10 hours later.

The Lamont school district canceled all classes Thursday in response to the standoff. Classes at Nueva Continuation High School were also cancelled.
