Alleged gangster arrested after deadly weekend shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A reputed gangster was arrested Sunday night for an alleged weekend murder.

James Deloney, 38, was arrested in the 3900 block of Trenton Street, accused of shooting 38-year-old Bruce Cameron on the 3500 block of Caldwell Drive at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Deloney was booked on suspicion of murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and participation in a criminal street gang, police said Monday.

Officers were called to Caldwell Drive to find Cameron had been shot multiple times in front of a house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials learned there was a large group of people at a party at the house.

During their investigation of the homicide, detectives talked to witnesses that said a verbal fight broke out between a few of the people at the gathering.

Witnesses told police that a man in the group shot at Cameron a few minutes after the fight started.
