Suspect in pot shop killing in custody, 5 others arrested for accessory

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police arrested a man suspected of killing two people while robbing a Bakersfield medical marijuana collective Friday night.

Two men were shot to death July 17 inside the at First Reliable medical marijuana collective on Chester Avenue, near 2nd Street. The next day, police identified 32-year-old Aaron Patrick Burris as a suspect.

After receiving numerous tips and leads, investigators located Burris at a home on Wainwright Drive in north Bakersfield. Detectives approached the house at around 5 p.m. Friday after hours of surveillance.

Officials said Burris was in custody nearly seven minutes after they asked him to surrender.

Burris was booked into the Kern County Jail on a warrant for murder and robbery.

Police also arrested five other people for accessory and participation in a criminal street gang.

Police also released photos of a female suspect. A week later, on July 24, police identified her as 16-year-old Miracle Jackson.
