Super weekend for local businesses

Super weekend for local businesses
Super Bowl weekend is here and with a California team facing off in the big game, it can mean big business.

For Prime Cut this weekend resembles the star cornerback on the last Niners team to make the Super Bowl: Prime Time.

“It’ll start tomorrow morning, people buying steaks, sausages all our handmade sausage, buying like crazy. It goes crazy this weekend.”

Merv Crist, the president of Prime Cut, says Super Bowl weekend brings out competition for local businesses.

“I think it’s good for all businesses in Bakersfield, because we’re all trying to do the best we can.”

Timothy Buffuna works at Fanzz Sports Apparel in the Valley Plaza Mall. He says customers have one question.

“Where’s the Niners stuff?”

Shoppers are going into the hurry up offense to have gear ready for Sunday.

“We had twenty youth jerseys one day. The next day we had one left.”

But he says there’s an MVP.

“Kaepernick is the biggest. He came in halfway through the season and everyone’s inspired by that.”

If you didn’t get your Colin Kaepernick jersey, you might be able to go to Goose Loonie’s where the bar will be having a jersey giveaway.

Manager Demetri Katsanqonis says they’ve been gearing up all week.

“There’s so much packed into it that even people who aren’t football fans watch it.”

The Super Bowl kicks off at 3:30 Sunday afternoon. You can catch it on KBAK.
