Delano donations 'Stuff the Bus' with back to school supplies

DELANO, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Back to school can be a back breaker for many. Saturday, volunteers teamed up in Delano to tame those costs.

It was the "Stuff the Bus" drive.

The drive was one of five hosted by Assemblyman David Valadao.

"Parents are usually the ones who by the school item," Valadao said.

"The parents have trouble paying for those items, we're trying to make a difference in their lives."

Volunteers said 408 school supplies were donated. The supplies will go to needy families this school year.

Maria Andrade is an eighth grader at Cecil Avenue Math & Science Academy. She helped collect donations.

"It's good because our community is working together for our youth to have a brighter future."
