State agents arrest 4 in drug cartel investigation

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Four suspected members of a Mexican drug cartel have been arrested and more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine, nine pounds of cocaine and half a pound of heroin seized in a San Bernardino County raid.

California Department of Justice spokeswoman Michelle Gregory says the monthlong investigation culminated late Tuesday following an undercover operation targeting members of the La Familia Michoacana trafficking organization in Southern California.

They allegedly imported meth from Mexico and distributed it to drug dealers in this state and others.

Agents booked 37-year-old Juan Gabriel Angulo-Cabrera of Modesto, 40-year-old Ramiro Gil Guerra of Keyes, 35-year-old Jesus Cardena-Selem of Fontana and 32-year-old Sergio Mercado-Vasquez of Modesto for investigation of possessing, transporting and furnishing a controlled substance for sale as well as conspiracy.

They're each held on $1.5 million bail.
