Some hospitalized after insecticide exposure in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Three people were hospitalized after they were exposed to an insecticide that is commonly used to keep flies and gnats away from horses, according to environmental health officials.

Officials were called to set up a triage Sunday at Paramount Farms for the exposure. Nearly two dozen people were examined at the site off Highway 33 in Lost Hills.

The rest of the employees refused treatment. Health officials say the leak did not require everyone to be decontaminated. The cause of the leak wasn't immediately announced.
