BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Zachary Richardson was welcomed by his family with a big sign at Meadows Field as he returned home after finishing boot camp and formal training for the Army at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Family members say Richardson, who is now 20, really looked up to his grandfather and World War II veteran Odell Evans. The gradfather died in October 2010. The former Marine and Bronze Star recipient was laid to rest at the Bakersfield National Cemetery.

According to family, Richardson will continue duty in Bakersfield with the U.S. Army Reserve.
