Kern County detentions deputy accused of domestic assault

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 30-year-old Bakersfield man, identified as detentions deputy with the Kern County Sheriff's Office, has been arrested and accused of putting a gun to his wife's head and threatening to kill her and himself.

Investigators with the Bakersfield Police Department said James Ronald Tackitt Jr. was arguing with his wife Wednesday when he got a gun. Police said he then forced his wife into a closet, forced her to kneel and put the loaded gun to her head.

Police said the wife was able to talk her husband into removing the firearm from her head. She left the house with her child. No one was physically injured during the incident, according to police.

The suspect was later located and arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm.

The sheriff's office later confirmed Tackitt is employed as a detentions deputy.
