Sheriff's office announces Taft meth arrests

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Several people in Taft have been arrested on drug charges.

Antonio Olivas, 41, and Roxana Gil, 29, were arrested Tuesday morning during a probation and parole search. Deputies found 3.15 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and $14,761 in cash, the sheriff's office said.

In an unrelated case - though also from Taft and also announced by the sheriff's office on Tuesday - 34-year-old David Tyler was arrested Saturday after deputies found him with 1.6 grams of meth and a hypodermic syringe.

Deputies were alerted by a concerned citizen who reported yelling and sounds of fighting from a house in the 700 block of Tyler Street. Deputies determined Tyler and a 29-year-old woman, whose name was withheld, were fighting.

Tyler also allegedly failed to comply with deputies' commands and resisted arrest.

Both Tyler and the woman were on searchable probation for illicit narcotics.
