BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A woman has been arrested on suspicion of elder abuse after a 73-year-old woman was found living in a one-bedroom apartment without a working toilet, rodent infestation, 13 dogs, dog feces and various soiled items.

Kern County deputies made the discovery Thursday while enforcing a court-ordered eviction at 420 Cottonwood Road, according to the sheriff's office. The elderly woman was living there with 34-year-old Tamra Lynn Camp, who was placed under arrest.

Deputies had to wear respirators during the investigation, because the odor was so strong, according to the sheriff's office.

Kern County Animal Services took possession of the dogs.
