San Francisco sheriff's deputy missing

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are searching for a San Francisco Sheriff's deputy whose boat was found adrift near a Vallejo marina.

Coast Guard officials tell the Times-Herald of Vallejo that the fishing boat was discovered at 6:30 a.m. Monday. San Francisco Sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Fahey says the missing deputy is 56-year-old Michael Roberts of Hercules.

Roberts was apparently not working on Sunday and was not scheduled to work on Monday.

The search effort includes Vallejo police, Solano County Sheriff's deputies and the Coast Guard. Sheriff's department dive teams were assisting.

Vallejo police Lt. Kenny Parks says authorities do not suspect foul play in Roberts's disappearance.
