Kern County prosecutor accused of falsified evidence

Kern County prosecutor accused of falsified evidence
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — For Konrad Moore, the head of the Kern County Public Defender's Office, hearing that an attorney falsified any piece of evidence is beyond belief.

More shocking for Moore is that the accused attorney is county prosecutor Robert Murray. He said a public defender in his office discovered a discrepancy with an audio recording and a transcription.

"We're presently investigating an allegation of a prosecutor fabricating an admission by a client in a child molest case," Moore told Eyewitness News on Wednesday.

Moore said once he notified District Attorney Lisa Green, her office acted immediately. They were provided the transcripts without the admission listed in it.

"I viewed her response as very professional," Moore said. "She understood the gravity of what we believed occurred here."

Assistant District Attorney Scott Spielman acknowledged their office did receive a complaint.

Spielman said they are taking steps to preserve the public trust.
